100922 The art of costing a roster

100922 The art of costing a roster

Portion of an email from Damien Ryan-Green to Claude Staub:

[The] "costing parameters" ... will feed rosters costed in orgs with Gateway, even if they press "cost roster" via a button in the actual RosterCoster.xls template (which then reads the parameters off the server).

The short version of the art of Roster Costing is that the cost of a roster depends on:

(a) the shift pattern for each roster line
(b) the staff classifications against each roster line
(c) the costing parameters

The [costing parameters] "survey" should pop up whenever a user hits the "costing parameters" link in Gateway ... it's effectively an app in its own right.

Claude, a couple of important points to note, and I'm an open book on your thoughts:

(a) I've carefully expanded this list of parameters so that it is DUAL PURPOSE: as well as costing a roster, it also contains sufficient info to be fed into our online assessment of needs survey for the purpose of creating
greenfield rosters.
(b) In other words, while we are collecting info for one purpose, may as well collect for another purpose, in case the org wants to do that, as well?
